Rancho Cucamonga Man Arrested For Impersonation and Sexual Assault

A Big Bear man was accused of impersonating a police officer and sexually assaulting women in Rancho Cucamonga and Victorville.

William Hernandez, 51, a man from Big Bear, was arrested for pretending to be an officer. Reports suggest he used his feigned position of power to coerce women into sexual activities, supposedly threatening them with a handgun.

San Bernardino County sheriff’s deputies responded to the victim’s report, investigating the matter. They sent detectives from Big Bear, Rancho Cucamonga, and Victorville to find the suspect, which they did. Authorities detained Hernandez at a traffic stop near his home in Big Bear. Issuing a search warrant, the officers found evidence linking the suspect to the alleged assault.

According to the reports, the victim told the police officers that Hernandez proclaimed himself an officer, threatened her with a gun, and sexually assaulted her. The alleged misconduct happened at the New Kansman Motel.

While authorities were investigating the first report, another woman came forward and claimed a similar incident happened to her. This woman claimed that Hernandez came to her and impersonated a police officer. He allegedly threatened to arrest her if she did not comply with the sexual activity. Reports state that at some point, the supposed victim tried to contact her friend. At this time, she claims, the suspect told her to invite her friend. When the friend appeared on the scene, Hernandez supposedly also threatened this woman with a gun and sexually assaulted her.

Authorities arrested and booked Hernandez at the West Valley Detention Center. His bail was posted at $1 million. He currently faces multiple sexual assault charges.
